Now, theory is good, but what about practice? We talked months ago about putting into practice what we’ve learned. Now, if we fail to put into practice, sometimes we will run into immediate problems, sometimes we will fail to receive a blessing from the Creator of the universe, sometimes we will develop incorrect thinking.

What is a battered reed?

If YOU were a battered reed, you would feel extremely fragile, very vulnerable, as if you were ready to break at a moment’s notice. I tell you, I have ended up in this situation, in this frame of mind.

What about a smoldering wick? What do you think? What is the purpose of a candle? What is the purpose of a wick on a candle?

Now, for Jesus to have this level of regard and compassion, to preserve such a tenuously clinging object … now what about if WE are that tenuous object, and yet He preserves us even in such a state.
